Food Cravings- What Do They Mean

Have you ever noticed that you have food cravings at various times in your life? Did you know that your cravings are actually unconcious desires in your life? I remember when I was going through the process of my divorce several years ago that I had bought nothing but hot & spicy and salty foods. The divorce was not a pleasant situation, and it wasn't moving fast enough for my needs. Conversation between me and my husband was icy at best. My craving for food that is spicy, salty, or made with vineagar suggests that I wanted a dramatic change or growth in life. These foods represent the need for verbal expression and the 5th chakra. Some people crave dairy products such as ice cream and milk. These types of foods help us to feel nutured and smoothed emotional. It can also seen as a craving for mother's love or a need to smooth the emotional body. Often these people are mother wounded. The desire for bread products for the need for the feeling of community, family, security and children. This too helps to soothe the emotional center. Sugar represents a desire for sweetness, affluence and/or prosperity in your life. It stimulates the sacral chakra and the desire for sex. When repressed, the craving for sugar becomes stronger. Fats, oils, butters also represent the desire for prosperity and wealth, except the root chakra is affected here with survival fears. The need to "fatten oneself up" is in full force. Chocolate is a stimulant that people desire when they are bored or feeling held back. Chocolate is a spiritual food that helps open a person's intuitive ability since it stimulates the higher emotional center. It is female energized. Cravings for coffee is often associated with the need for clarity or bringing focus to a situation. Dairy products including ice cream, represents a craving for mother's love or a nuturing of the emotional body. Whereas popcorn is a fun food, bringing out the inner child and the need for pleasure and relaxation. Meat represents the need to feel grounded and invulnerable. It is very male energized and therefore makes one feel more anchored in the body. Next time you have a craving, you'll now know why!

The food labelings are really interesting. I have found that I craved certain foods through out life - and they seem to fit with some of your descriptions here.
